MATERIALS

Your kitchen worktops will be used for preparing, serving and, potentially, dining and will need to withstand regular, intensive cleaning. They’re a natural focal point in your kitchen, complementing the units and flooring you choose, and have become a key part of the design process. You’re going to be interacting with them multiple times a day, so it’s important to choose a style you like the look of, as well as a surface that will suit your lifestyle.

Worktop options

Granite

Granite has a beautiful palate and intensity of colour. Its hard-wearing properties make it ideal for kitchen worktops, bathrooms, and flooring.

A coarse-grained igneous rock composed mainly of 65% Alkali feldspars and 20% quartz. The colour will depend on its mineralogy.

Quartz

Quartz surfaces are non-porous, hard wearing, resistant to heat and scratching, and do not require sealing, making them very low maintenance.

Together with their aesthetic advantages, the durability of quartz has meant that this has become the kitchen worktop of choice for many homeowners

Marble

Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock composed of crystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. More commonly used in bathrooms.

A hard crystalline metamorphic form of limestone, typically white with mottling or streaks of colour.

Acrylic

Acrylic is safe for food and is rated excellent for hygiene since it’s nonporous, and its seamlessness increases that safety.

It’s easy to clean and maintain and doesn’t need sealing like stone products often do.
